The 91福利社 grieves the death of Associate Librarian Emerita Nettie Baker, who .
Baker鈥檚 service to the 91福利社 began in 1969, when she joined the staff as the university鈥檚 cataloging librarian. During her 49-year career, she held the positions of associate director, director and associate dean.
As library director, Baker led major renovations and technological advancements to serve students and faculty.
鈥淭hroughout her career at UDallas, Nettie worked tirelessly, innovatively, generously and caringly to advance the education of our students, to promote shared governance through her many years on the faculty senate and other institutional committees, and to encourage excellence at other universities through her many years serving on Southern Association of Colleges and Schools review teams,鈥 said President Jonathan J. Sanford, PhD. 鈥淣ettie was a friend to everyone, quick with a kind word, and always willing to go the extra mile to help students, faculty and staff. Though she retired in 2018, Nettie鈥檚 contributions to the library remain 鈥 certainly in the resources and services available, but most especially in the culture of service and care so evident in our library.鈥
Please join us in praying for Nettie鈥檚 soul and for comfort for her loved ones.
